The InviTrap® Spin Universal RNA Mini Kit simplifies total RNA isolation from different starting materials such as cells, tissue and blood. The genomic DNA is removed without an enzymatic digestion step. RNases are inactivated to prevent RNA degradation. Furthermore all InviTrap RNA kits feature capped spin columns for safe and reliable RNA purification.

The kit simplifies total RNA isolation by combining efficient lysis of the starting material and the inactivation of exogenous and endogenous RNases with the efficient removal of genomic DNA by selectively binding to a specific surface of a solid material. Subsequently, the RNA is bound onto the membrane of the Spin Filter. Contaminants are removed by following washing steps and highly purified RNA can be eluted in small volume of RNase free water. Due to the high purity, the isolated total RNA is ready to use for subsequent downstream applications like:

1. Effective DNA removal using InviTrap
Total RNA was isolated from 1 x 106 NIH 3T3 cells using the InviTrap Spin Universal RNA Mini Kit and a competitor kit Q. Standard protocols for both kits were used. The RNA was eluted in 50 µl and 5 µl of the eluted RNA were analyzed on a 1.2% denaturing agarose gel stained with ethidium bromide.
2. Agilent Bioanalyzer analysis using high quality RNA from eucaryotic cells
Total RNA was isolated from 1 x 105 NIH 3T3 cells using the InviTrap Spin Universal RNA Mini Kit. The yielded total RNA was analyzed in an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer and shows the high purity of the isolated total RNA. ratio 28S rRNA : 18S rRNA = 2.0
